Part Three: “Unexpected Situations”. In this part of the test, you will listen to three different communications between pilots and air traffic controllers.
The recordings will be played twice. There is a five-second pause before the recording is repeated. After listening to the recording, you should tell me everything that the pilot and the controller said. I will then ask you a question.
At the end of Part three, I will ask you to compare the three situations, so please take notes. All information is important. Do you have any questions?

Now, after listening to these three situations:
How would you compare them, which one do you think is the most difficult to deal with and why? You may want to compare them in terms of severity, possible solutions or ways of prevention.

Suggested Comparison Answer

Overall, considering the three situations, the most difficult and demanding one, in my opinion, is the loss of radar contact in a terminal control area, because it can significantly reduce ATC situational awareness during a busy phase of flight.
As a result, workload for both pilots and controllers could have increased, especially if traffic had been building up. Separation may have to fall back on procedural methods, and pilots may need to rely more on navigation, visual scanning and clear communication.
If not handled properly, this situation could have led to loss of separation or traffic conflicts. To prevent this, proper equipment maintenance and effective pilot-controller coordination are essential.

An engine stall during take off is more difficult to deal with than a runway incursion by a dog because if it happens after V1 speed, pilots will face a high workload and the risks are very high during take off.

To avoid it, It’s recommendable regular and preventive maintenance.

A Runway incursion caused by a dog while the aircraft is taxiing is the easiest situation for the pilots because they have to hold position without risks and wait for the airport staff to solve the problem.
Only a delay may be caused.
To avoid it, the best thing to be done is providing fences or walls around the runways to avoid animals crossing it.
